TE Burk Parsons on St Andrew's Chapel's Journey into the PCA
Founded in 1997 as an independent congregation, Saint Andrew's Chapel was received into the PCA in 2023.
Pastor Burk Parsons joins the Westminster Standard Podcast this week to walk us through how the church he serves as senior pastor has developed and enriched her ministries through the years and now recently has become a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America.
While the leadership of the congregation continues to have concerns about the trajectory of the PCA, the Session unanimously recommended the congregation of Saint Andrew’s Chapel petition to be received into the PCA. Saint Andrew’s Chapel now joins the ranks of congregations willing to stand firm for the historic Christian faith as summarized in the Westminster Standards.

Although the PCA has experienced a renewal of interest in her Reformed heritage recently, the fundamental problems of the PCA continue to persist. In God’s mercy, He has raised up Ruling Elders to speak clearly against a backdrop of confusion in the PCA to call the PCA to hold fast to her founding principles. It is an encouragement to have the Ruling Elders of Saint Andrew’s Chapel willing to join the PCA to contend for the faith once for all delivered to the saints.
Along the way, TE Parsons shares insights from his own journey to become a presbyterian and offers wisdom regarding faithful ministry in the future. TE Parsons warns against the “myth of influence” and calls us to hold fast to the historic Christian faith. We must not compromise the truth in order to gain a hearing. But instead conservatives must hold firm to conserve the biblical truth in the Church and in our hearts.
At the same time, the officers of the PCA must act with integrity regarding our Constitution. The PCA has always permitted some small differences with the Westminster Standards, and therefore we must regard one another with charity as we discuss differences with the Standards. But nonetheless, any difference with the PCA Constitution must be exegetically based.
In this interview, TE Parsons sets forth a path of beautiful, gospel centered unity for the future of the PCA. We are indeed blessed to have such men ministering in the PCA and we welcome the members of Saint Andrew’s Chapel to the PCA!
I have forwarded to my pastor. Every Presbyterian ought to listen. I learned so much. I have been trying to read and understand the Westminster Confession of Faith. This explained so much.
